Ken Patton

April 26, 1956 ~ July 15, 2017 (age 61) 61 Years Old

Mr. Ken Patton, age 61, of Griffin, Georgia passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Emory Midtown after a brief illness.

Ken was born in Griffin, Georgia on April 26, 1956; he was a 1974 graduate of Griffin High School, a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and Griffin Boat Club. As a businessman, he and his wife, Gail, founded K&G Patton Enterprises Inc. in 1987, where he was first driving his own semi-truck locally.  After doing that for many years he decided to sell the trucks he had acquired and began his roll-off waste disposal business in 2000.  From a one man operation, he grew the company to as many as 15 employees, including his two sons, Brad and Clint.  To Ken, K&G Patton was more than a business; he truly enjoyed hard work there and working with his sons and teaching them the business.  A longtime member of the Griffin Boat Club, he was definitely one of their more colorful and enthusiastic members.  He and Gail and their sons enjoyed countless camping trip to the lake where they all enjoyed being together and life on the lake. His laughter and stories and the good times he brought there will be missed at the boat club.  Ken was also an avid motorcyclist who rode his Harley-Davidson north to Canada, west to California and south to the Keys and all points in between.  On many sunny afternoons, he could be found with Gail and other friends on their Harleys enjoying short excursions around the state.

Ken’s outgoing personality and Southern drawl made him memorable to all he met. He was known for his ability to tell a story and joke and keep people laughing.  He could light up a room and was the life of the party.  He remained in good spirits and joking even while in the hospital.

Ken is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 39 years, Gail Peeples Patton, his mother, Velma Helms Patton, his sons and their two wives:  Brad and Ashley Patton and Clint and Susan Patton.  He was devoted to his six beloved granddaughters, Kendall, Camryn, Chandler, Kate, Camille and Caroline Patton.  His brother and sister-in-law and niece, Stacy and Sandra Patton and Anna Patton also survive him, along with other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.  Ken was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Evans Patton.

A visitation for Ken Patton will be on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Oak Hill Baptist Church. Following the visitation a funeral service will be conducted in the sanctuary of Oak Hill Baptist. Dr. Steve Stewart, Howard Johnson and Reverend John Nance will officiate.  Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
