Nakia Lowry, age 46, of Griffin passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Wellstar Spalding Hospital.
Nakia was born in Griffin, Georgia on December 19, 1974. His mother, Delta Rampley Lowry, and brother, Nakoma Lowry, preceded him in death. He was a former tandem truck driver for Harris-Walker Trucking and Tim Jones Communities. He loved to play recreational softball and also played softball for Harvest Temple Church of God. He was in the All State chorus at Griffin High School for four years. Nakia loved singing in the choir at Harvest Temple, and was a former youth pastor at both Bethel Baptist, and New Hope Baptist Church of Pike County. He loved hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling. He was a member of Rock Springs Church.
Survivors include his high school sweetheart, and wife of 24 years, Tonya Hampton Lowry; his father, Kenneth H. Lowry; nieces and a nephew, Amber Hampton Slack (Joshua), Tye Hampton, and Erin Hampton, and close family friend, Michael Bennett.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 10, 2021 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A memorial service will be on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 7:00 pm in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury, officiated by Dr. Benny Tate.
