Kerry W. Wood, age 61 of Griffin, Georgia peacefully passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020 at his residence.
Kerry was born in Thomaston, Georgia on July 1, 1959. He was a 1977 graduate of R. E. Lee High School in Thomaston. He retired from Georgia DOT in 2009 as head of Georgia bridge inspections. After his retirement he worked as a consultant for AECOM. Kerry was a member of Rock Springs Church in Milner, Georgia. Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing at Keaton Beach, playing golf and softball, and eating a good Waffle House breakfast. He took pride in making others belly laugh with his elaborate stories, cooking for a crowd, and singing backup on his favorite karaoke songs. Above all, he had a deep love for his family, friends, and Lord Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife Natalie Wood; his parents, Jackie and Joyce Wood of Thomaston; children, Logan and Ellen Wood of Smyrna, Kerrah and Cameron Winters of Marietta, Alexandria Wood of Atlanta, Nicholas Robinson of Hampton, Katelynn Cook of Griffin; sisters, Kelli and Donnie Bagley of Warner Robins, Kristie and Pruitt Wilder of Thomaston; several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be on Friday, July 31, 2020 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. The Funeral will be on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Rock Springs Church. Dr. Benny Tate will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Foundation for Prader-Willi Research in honor of Kerry's great niece, Ann Margaret.
