Kirby Wightman Starr III

Mr. Kirby Wightman Starr, III, age 75 of Griffin, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Brightmoor Hospice.

Kirby was born in Newnan, Georgia on May 29, 1947. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Kirby Starr, Jr. and Elizabeth Cole Starr; wife, Dee Mathews Starr. Kirby was retired from the Griffin Spalding County School system as a science teacher. Kirby was a member of the First Baptist Church in Griffin and taught the Adult Sunday School class many years ago. He enjoyed competitive sports shooting and mountain trips, but he mostly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren who affectionately called him "Ninnie".

Kirby is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Jeff Brandon; grandchildren, Emily Flewellen, Sydney Flewellen, Olivia Brandon, Mia Steward (Donovan), and Kathleen Byczek; great-grandchildren, Emery and Eli Byczek, and Sebastian Steward; sisters, Emma Shanholtz and Beth Gustavson; nieces and nephew, Cole Shanholtz-Howe, Caroline Gustavson, and Drew Gustavson; stepson, Bill Searcy, and stepdaughter, Dee Dee Searcy. 

Visitation for Mr. Starr will be Sunday, July 10, 2022 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm in the chapel. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, GA.
