Lamar Wayne Bates

Mr. Lamar Wayne Bates, age 72 of Milner, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at his residence.

Mr. Bates was born on September 16, 1947 in Griffin, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Katie Bates. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp; was a retired Superintendent with the Federal Prison System.

Survivors include his wife, of 49 years, Mary Ann Bates; children, Larry and Jodi Smith, Chris and Brenda Bates; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 niece.

A visitation will be Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will be Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury. Pastor Gene Luke will officiate. Interment will be Monday, November 4, 2019 at 2:30 pm at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.
