PFC Lamar Eugene Newman
March 12, 1931 – November 27, 1950

PFC Lamar Eugene Newman, was killed in action on November 27, 1950 defending his country during the Korean War.
PFC Newman was born on March 12, 1931 in Griffin, Georgia to Lecie Newman and Jewell Malone Newman. He joined the United States Army in 1949, was a member of Company B, 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington. He was a recipient of two Purple Hearts. He was captured and considered missing in action in November 1950 during a mission in North Korea. As a result of modern day technology and the persistence of the United States Army it has been determined that PFC Newman was in fact killed in action. Regretfully his parents passed away before this determination was made. During this time, he also lost his siblings, Reuben Newman, Dorothy Dotson, Ronnie Newman, Cecilia Dunn; nephew, Tim Newman; niece, Debbie Newman.
PFC Newman is survived by his nephews and nieces, Donnie Dotson, Denise O’Neal, Darrell Dotson, Dustin Dotson, Sherry Newman, Bubba Newman, Michael Newman.
A graveside funeral service for PFC Lamar Eugene Newman will be conducted
Friday, March 2, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Veterans section of Oak Hill Cemetery, with full military honors, escorted by local Law Enforcement.
