Mrs. Mae Prescott Chambers, age 92, of Meansville, Georgia passed away Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Riverside Nursing Center in Thomaston, Georgia.
Mrs. Chambers, a long-time resident of Griffin, was born in Waynesville, Georgia on June 7, 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin O. Prescott and Edna Mae Rozier Prescott, her husband David T. Chambers, Jr.; son David Scott Chambers; brothers, William R. Prescott, Melvin Prescott, Huey Prescott; and sister, Barbara Kennedy. For many years, she was a devoted member of McIntosh Baptist Church of Griffin, and was currently a member of Meansville Baptist Church. Mrs. Chambers retired from Signal Mills of Griffin, where she worked as a quality control inspector.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Melanie Chambers of Meansville, GA; daughter-in-law, Sandra Chambers of Havelock, NC; grandchildren, Daniel (Jennifer) Chambers of Sykesville, MD; Matthew (Sabrina) Chambers of Bethlehem, GA; Megan (Grant) Crago of Waxhaw, NC; great grandchildren, Audrey Chambers, Lily Chambers; sister, Jackie Holley of Griffin, Ga; brothers, Byron Prescott of Jackson, GA; Benjamin Prescott of Kingwood, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, May 11, 2020 from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Westwood Gardens. Due to the Covid19 Virus and current restrictions in place by the State of Georgia and Spalding County, the visitation will be limited to 10 people at a time during the visitation hour. For those attending the graveside service, there will be a loudspeaker for you to listen. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Meansville Baptist Church 12620 Georgia Highway 109, Meansville, GA 30256 in memory of Mrs. Chambers.
