Margaret Speir Peek

Mrs. Margaret Speir Peek age 99, of Griffin, Georgia went to be with the Lord at her residence on Saturday, December 1, 2018. Mrs. Peek was born on December 2, 1918 in Forsyth, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late James Herbert Speir, Sr. and Rosalie Pitts Speir.

Mrs. Peek graduated from Griffin High School in 1938 and attended nursing school in Macon. She didn’t complete nursing school, because she was needed at home. Margaret was a homemaker and a caregiver for many of her family members. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Mrs. Peek was a wonderful cook, avid reader, and also enjoyed gardening. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Griffin for 69 years.

Mrs. Peek was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Thomas (JT) Peek, Jr., Sister, Louise Speir Hill, and brother, Herbert Speir, Jr. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Garice and Larry Schneider of Addison, Texas; son and daughter in-law, Jim and Clydene Peek of Griffin; granddaughter and her husband, Michelle and Dennis Sternitzky of Plano, Texas; great-grandchildren, Avery, Cade, Vincent and Dylan; special niece and her husband, Kathy and Thomas Thurston of Griffin; nephew and his wife, Jim and Tammy Hill of Griffin; niece, Lisa McKean of Lucedale, Mississippi, and nephew Ricky and Denise Speir of Warner Robins, Georgia; wonderful great nieces and great nephews, special friends at First Baptist Church, and her precious grand dog, Kevin.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ahmed and Brightmoor Hospice for the wonderful care shown to their mother.

Visitation for Mrs. Margaret Speir Peek will be held on Tuesday, December 4, from 9:30am- 11:00 am at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A service will follow in the Chapel at Conner-Westbury with Dr. Bill Hardee and Dr. Jim Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
