Tribute

Marian Pullin Joiner, lovingly known to friends and family as GeeGee, peacefully left us on September 14, 2018. Always sashaying through life with a spirit of enthusiasm and generosity of heart, GeeGee never met a stranger and lived a life of service. GeeGee was born Marian Alice McNeil in Griffin on September 30, 1923 to William Edward McNeil and Naomi Alice Latta but nurtured by her beloved granny, Alice Atkinson Latta. Marian was predeceased by her husband of 25 years, Leon Wilson Pullin, Jr., her son, Kenneth Wilson Pullin, her daughter, Kay Pullin Penn, her son-in-law, Richard Penn, and her husband of 32 years, Dan Voss Joiner.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Christie and Gary Powers, her son Leon Wilson Pullin, III, daughter in law, Kay Adams Pullin, and her grandchildren: Laurie and Sam Toland, Joanna and Mike Errera, Kenneth and Shelby Pullin, Beth and Brandon Smith, Matthew McNeil Powers, Blake Powers, Georgia and Darryl Baker, and Lucas Pullin. She is also survived by her great grand-children: Taylor Toland, Abby and Chandler Sanders, Sarah Grace and Emily Errera, Luke and Libby Pullin, Adi, Frasier, JB and Sophie Smith, Cameron and Amelia Baker, great-great grandchildren: Kayleigh Toland and Grayson Sanders, her sister-in-law, Ann Booker, and several nieces and nephews whose visits were always the highlight of her day.

Marian was a graduate of Spalding High School Class of 1941, a lifelong member of the Ringgold Community, past member of Union Baptist Church (currently Ringgold Baptist), and is a current member of Griffin First Baptist Church where she was a member of The Seekers Sunday School Class. She also volunteered as a “Pink Lady” at the Griffin Spalding County Hospital. Her greatest pleasure came from time spent with family, gardening, sewing, crocheting, quilting, and making anything she could give away. Her hand stitched fabric dolls and crocheted baby hats and blankets live in homes all over the world.
GeeGee was the definition of strength, gratitude, generosity, contentment, and faith…a prayer warrior above all. May her love of life live on in her legacy.

Our family would like to thank everyone who ensured GeeGee received exceptional and compassionate care during the past 10 months especially the staff and friends at The Woods Senior Care as well as Eternal Hope Hospice. Your love was unmatched and sustaining.
Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 am Monday September 24th at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home (Griffin, Ga) followed by an 11 am grave site service Oak Hill Cemetery (Griffin).
