Mary Carol Pittard Sibley, RN, age 95 of Marietta, Georgia formerly of Griffin, Georgia passed away August 31, 2021.
Mary was born in Greensboro, Georgia on April 10, 1926. Her parents, Cyrus Pittard and Vida Chapman Pittard; her husband, George E. Sibley; siblings, Martha Pittard, John (Jack) Pittard and Davis Pittard (Edna) all preceded her in death. In 1948, she married George Sibley of Griffin. She and George were married until his death in 1995. They had two children, Carole and Fred. She was active in their school life and after school programs. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Griffin where she helped in many different areas of church life.
In 1999 she moved to Marietta. She resided at Atherton Place. She was active there in many ways including games of bridge and trips to ballgames to support the Atlanta Braves. She enjoyed traveling and went on trips with other Atherton residents to Asheville, NC and Savannah, GA. Her church life continued at First Presbyterian Church 0f Marietta until her passing.
Survivors include her son, Fred Sibley of Asheville, NC; brother, Charles T. Pittard (Ann) of Jasper, GA; nephews, Dave Pittard (Mendi), Tom Pittard (Aimee), John Pittard, Cary Pittard, and Darrell Pittard; sister-in-law, Charlotte Pittard; lifelong best friend, Betty T. Stovall.
A memorial service will be Friday, April 29, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 189 Church St. Suite# 1629 Marietta, Georgia 30060. Reverend Joe Brice will officiate.
