Matthew William Smith

Matthew William (Billy) Smith, 62, passed away on 09/06/2021 in Griffin, Ga.

Billy worked in construction most of his adult life. He was actively involved with his family and enjoyed playing with his 3 year-old granddaughter. He was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan and race fan of Chase Elliott.  At any family gatherings, he was found around the grill or stove. He had a passion for serving good food, He was a loving and caring father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. He was known by many names and facets; The peacemaker, Sweet William, droopy drawers, and Billy Bob. He was always lending a helping hand where needed; he especially enjoyed working with his brother, Tony at East Point Church of God where the family attends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Albert (Sam) Smith, his wife, Diane (Brooks) Smith, brother, Timmy Smith, and his beloved Penny (Jackie) Landrum Fowler.

Billy is survived by his mother, Evelyn (Capps) Parks, 93, of Atlanta, his sons, Michael (Shane) Ferrell, Trinity Ferrell, David Smith, Samuel (Sam) Smith, and daughter, Kitthany Smith. Brothers, Ronnie (Kathy) Payne, Anthony (Tony) Smith, sisters, Patricia (Pat) Padgett, Samantha (John) Smallwood.

Visitation will be Friday, September 10, 2021 from 6:0 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral. A funeral service will be Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 5:00 pm in the Chapel. Pastor Edgar Waters will officiate.
