I only knew him though what Jessica has told me. My prayers for the family, knowing he is at peace I feel must be of comfort,

So sorry to hear about Maurice. He was always special to me. I remember meeting he and Johnnie Gail the first time, how they welcomed me into the family. He will be missed by all.

It was a blessing to have had Maurice in my life. He had a smile for me each morning, especially when I told him he was "my sunshine." He had a boyish grin that would light up the room. He was so humble and kind. Even as his memory was slipping away, he had nicknames for his caregivers. Some nicknames were sweet and loving, others we still giggle about, even in our grief. As I reflect back upon his life, I am reminded of 1 Thessalonians 4:10-12. This scripture exemplifies his life. It says, "But we urge you, brothers, to excel more and more 11and to aspire to live quietly, to attend to your own matters, and to work with your own hands,as we instructed you. 12Then you will behave properly toward outsiders, without being dependent on anyone.…." He was a proud, independent man. Praise God his earthly trials are over. Maurice slipped from his earthly sickness and pain into everlasting life with our Lord. I pray the Lord gives us strength as we struggle with the loss of Maurice and our acute grief. Please Lord, grant us comfort and peace.

I did not personally know you Paw Paw, but I feel like I did through Jessica. You will be missed.

While words fail to capture the pain of losing a loved one, we look forward to the time when words will fail to capture the joy of having our Heavenly Father return your dear one to you. May you find comfort in the promise at Acts 24:15: "And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.
