Melanie Callahan Gilmer

Mrs. Melanie Callahan Gilmer, age 70, of Griffin, Georgia passed away, Thursday, November 26, 2020.
Melanie was born in Homestead, Florida on December 28, 1949. Her parents, William Lewis Callahan and Dorothy Mae Caldwell Callahan, along with her husband she has missed snice he passed Mitch Gilmer, brother, Bill Callahan and sister, Mary Ellen Mount all preceded her in death. She was a retired teacher from Jordan Hill Elementary School. Melanie was a member of First Baptist Church where she was very active and sang with the church choir. She also volunteered with the Christian Women’s Center, where she was active in the Life Song Group.
She is survived by brother, Bob Callahan and wife Susan; niece, Julia Vadakkumpaden and husband, Fijoy and their children, Della, Briel, and Liam; niece, Catherine Wright and husband, Dustin and their children, Eli and Marii; niece, Christine Callahan; sister-in-law, Carol Callahan and her daughter, Wendy Willoughby and husband, Kyle and their children, Anna and Jake; her son, Cory Callahan and his children, Hunter, Fisher, and Anslee.
A graveside service will be Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Cemetery. Dustin Wright will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you please consider contributing to Christian Women’s Center.
