Norma Jean Head, age 86, of Griffin, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Eternal Hope Hospice. Norma was born on March 29, 1935 in Griffin, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her husband Horace Head, Jr., parents, Olin and Annie Ruth Chappell Royals, granddaughter Ivy Head, brothers Billy Brown, Carl Chappell and Alton Brown.
Norma was a member of Second Baptist Church, the Griffin Moose Lodge, Koffee Klub Bowling League (1973-74) and a die-hard Georgia Tech fan who loved spending time with all of her family. She loved going to the beach, eating at Hunt’s Oyster Bar and watching sunsets.
Norma was “famous” for her cooking - and owned two breakfast and lunch restaurants in the 80’s, Everee Inn Cafe and Caddy Corner in Experiment.
Survivors include her six children, Dana and Nancy Head, Randy and Peggy Head, Tony and Amanda Head, Mike and Beverly Head, Cindy and Alan Dickerson, and Lisa and Greg Fussell. Sixteen grandchildren, Jeff and Ashley, Brian and Jennifer, Abbey and Carter, Randall and Tiffany, Jenny, Casey, Michael and Janet, Miles and Hailey, McClain and Brittany, Jessica, Chasity and Michael, Brittany, Lindsey and Danyel, Jacob and Emily Claire and sixteen great-grandchildren, brother, Ralph Chappell, several nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank all of the nurses and staff at Eternal Hope Hospice for the wonderful care they took of our mom, and the extra care and services offered to our family.
Visitation will be Monday, May 17, from 6-8 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will be Tuesday, May 18, at 11:00 in the Chapel. Pastor Winfred Dickson and Dr. Benny Tate will officiate. The service will be live-streamed. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetary.
