Mr. Perry Roy Pugh, age 99 of Griffin, Georgia passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019.
Mr. Pugh was born on 1920 in Orchard Hill, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie Pugh and two brothers and three sisters.
During WWII, Mr. Pugh served in the First Marine Division of the US Marine Corps which landed on Guadalcanal. In 2014 he was invited by the US Coast Guard to participate in the commissioning ceremony of the USCG Cutter Raymond Evans which honored the Coastguardsman who rescued Marines from Japanese forces on Guadalcanal.
Mr. Pugh was a retired mechanic, formerly employed by Holan Corporation of GA,
Baker Equipment Engineering of GA and Utilities Service Inc. of NC. He was an avid fisherman, loved the outdoors and working in the yard. Most of all he loved his family.
Survivors include his children Gary (Susie) Pugh, Dennis (Jill) Pugh, and Marianne Pugh; his grandchildren Adam (Jennifer) Pugh and Ashley Pugh and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 4, 2019 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service in the Chapel. Reverend Steven Norris will officiate. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
