Phyliss M. Shepherd

Phyllis McGhee Shepherd, age 84 of Griffin passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Brightmoor.
Mrs. Shepherd was born in Fulton County on January 25, 1938. She is preceded in death by Reverend and Mrs. Hoyt (Laura) McGhee; brothers, Norman McGhee and Wynn McGhee; and sisters, Olenia Morris, Hilda Jett, and Grace English.
Music was a big part of her life. She loved serving at churches as their music director, as well as sing at numerous funerals and weddings. She also traveled with her sisters The Emanuel Trio singing in concerts, on television, radio and making recordings of their songs. She was a member of Rock Springs Church. Phyliss also retired from Spalding County Recreational Department.
Mrs. Shepherd is survived by her husband of 56 years, William Harold Shepherd; they are the parents of five, Tim Shepherd (Beth), Danny Gilreath (Lori), Mark Gilreath (Wanda), Ricky Shepherd, Phillip Shepherd; She was proud of her many grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, David McGhee(Norma), Hilton McGhee(Katrina), Jeanette McMichael; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mrs. Shepherd will be Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will be Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Dr. Benny Tate and Ricky Shepherd will officiate. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Christ Chapel Zebulon, “Be The Light” in memory of Phyllis.
