RAYMOND DENDER

Mr. Raymond Eugene Dender, age 78 of Griffin, Georgia passed away peacefully Friday evening, June 19, 2020 at WellStar Spalding Hospital.
 
Mr. Dender was born in Lenoir City, Tennessee on January 16, 1942. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Master’s Degree in Food Technology.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Jeannette C. Dender, his wife Glenda Dender, and brother David Dender. Mr. Dender was a former employee of Anheuser-Busch, previous owner and president of Dender Distributing Company, Inc., and a member of First United Methodist Church. Ray was very active in the community. His accomplishments include: the Salvation Army, Salvation Army 2008 Volunteer of the Year, Griffin-Spalding Chamber of Commerce, Griffin-Spalding Development Authority, Midway Recovery, Rotary Club, Duck’s Unlimited, and was selected by the Exchange Club for Man of the Year 1989. Known to his grandchildren as Ray-Ray, he loved spending time with his family, hunting, and gardening. 
 
He is survived by sons, Tim Dender and his wife, Miranda, Todd Dender and his wife, January; grandchildren, Megan, Emily, Talon, and Taryn; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Jill Dender, Johnny and Kay Dender; former wife and friend, Susan Dender; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 
 
A visitation will be Tuesday, June 23, 2020 from noon until 2:00 pm at Rock Springs Church 219 Rock Springs Road, Milner, Georgia 30257. Followed by a memorial service starting at 2 pm. Pastor Cameron Shifflett will officiate. A private family inurnment will be in First United Methodist Church Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Salvation Army, 725 Meriwether Street, Griffin, Ga 30224.
