Mr. Richard P. Gaston, age 91, of Griffin Georgia passed away Friday, February 14, 2020 at Eternal Hope Hospice.
Mr. Gaston was born Atlanta, Georgia on June 4, 1928. His parents, Paul Jones Gaston and Polly Whitehead Gaston and his sister, Mildred Handley all preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Griffin High School Class of 1946, attended North Georgia College and then received his Bachelor’s Degree from Emory University. Mr. Gaston was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, was a longtime businessman in Griffin owning the Rex Theater, Parkwood Cinema and Mid-Georgia Auto Parts.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Jane Lee Gaston; daughters, Nancy Johnson and husband, Hal, Janet Wilkerson and husband, Ferrell, Beth Gaston; grandsons, Matthew Wilkerson and wife, Amber, Adam Wilkerson and wife Christy; great grandchildren, Gracie, Chase, Fischer, Emery; brother-in-law, Ed Handley; several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A memorial service will on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Revered Drew Elling and John Johnson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, Contributions can be made to First Presbyterian Church, 1349 Macon Rd, Griffin, GA 30224.
