Richard Howard Harper, age 75 of Griffin, Georgia, formerly of Wireton PA and of Peachtree City, GA, passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 30, 2023 at his residence.
Richard was born in Sewickley, Pennsylvania on August 17, 1947. His parents, William and Ann Hetzer Harper, brothers, William, Arnold, Thomas and John all preceded him in death. Richard was a 1965 graduate of Moon High School. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served in Vietnam and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 8805 in Hopewell, Pa. He retired from Eastern Airlines after 17 years before going to work for the US Postal Service in Tyrone, Georgia where he worked for the last 20 years. Richard was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and loved to travel with Vicki on many cruises around the globe. Richard was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Wireton, PA
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Vicki Runyon Harper; children, Cari Fortner (Jerry), Stephen Harper, Jennifer Harper; five grandchildren, Harper Fortner, Connor Harper, Watts Fortner, Mason Harper, Winston Fortner; sisters, Susan Bell, Mary Ann Kennelly; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at R.D. Copeland Funeral Home. A service will be Monday, February 6, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. Father Frank will officiate. Interment will be in the Resurrection Cemetery, Moon Township in Pennsylvania with military honors. In lieu of flower’s the family ask that donations be made to St. Jude’s Hospital.
