Richard Saxon

 
Mr. Richard Gregory Saxon, age 66 of Griffin, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018. Mr. Saxon was born on June 9, 1951 in Hapeville Georgia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Brown Saxon and Ollie Ruby Smith Saxon.

Richard loved basketball, playing on his high school team where he was named MVP and later in life joined the Delta Airlines league basketball team. He played numerous musical instruments, marched in the Hapeville Marching Band, and was invited to play during the Rose Bowl Parade due to his talents. He was passionate about gardening and enjoyed spending time there with his children. Richard was a Customer Service Agent for Delta Airlines and retired after 32 years.

He survived by his wife, Sherrill Carter Saxon; sons, Joshua Richard Saxon and wife Megan Jane, Christopher Jorden Saxon; grandchildren, McKenzie Jane Saxon and Scarlett Kate Saxon; a brother and sister in law, Louis and Betsy Ross Saxon; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, May 26,2018 at 2:00 pm
