Richard Everett Turner, age 86, of Griffin, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at his residence.
Richard was born in Nashville, Tennessee on August 6, 1935. His parents, Mintie Melton Turner and Sydney Turner preceded him in death. Richard was the Griffin High School band director from 1964 until 1977. He worked for Stanbury Medalist from 1978 until 1984, then retired from The Recognition Company (TRC) as a salesman, where he was employed from 1990 until 2011. Richard was a member of the Art Association, a former choir director, and member of the Elks Lodge. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Griffin.
He is survived by his wife Vickie Ison Turner; children, Van Turner (Carla), Chuck Turner, Matthew Turner; grandchildren, Eric Turner (Christhea), Amber Cupit (Nathan); great grandchild, Caelum Franklin Cupit; sisters-in-law, Cirie and Gene Hand, Gennie and Terry Hurley; several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Richard Turner will be on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury. The family ask that you please omit flowers and consider making a contribution to the Humane Society in memory of Richard.
