Roberta Roper

Roberta (Robbie) Jacoby Roper, of Griffin, GA, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 after bravely dealing with ALS. Robbie was born March 14, 1953, and is preceded in death by her parents Samuel Oscar Jacoby and Leona Miller Jacoby. She grew up in Burlington, NJ, graduated from Glassboro State College, and then moved to Georgia to seek a teaching position. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church.

Robbie was an elementary school teacher for almost fifteen years before she went on to be a ‘full-time volunteer’, serving as a Sunday School teacher, PTSA President, VBS Director, tutor, and more. She made an immeasurable impact on countless young lives. Robbie was also a talented artist whose works can be seen in various businesses in Griffin and on the walls of many of her family and friends’ homes. She is survived by her husband, Robert Roper; sister, Nancy Jacoby; sons Jacob and John Samuel Roper; daughter-in-law Gretchen Roper; and granddaughter Anna Roper. 

(Arrangements) Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM October 29, 2018, at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A celebration of Robbie’s life will be held at New Salem Baptist Church, 57 Bicycle Road, Griffin on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 11:00 am`
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Robbie’s name to the ALS Association or bibles donated through the Gideons International.
