Rosa " Rose " Williams Pelt

Mrs. Rosa “Rose” Williams Pelt age 97 of Griffin, Georgia passed away Monday, July 16, 2018 at Eternal Hope Hospice just 5 days before her 98th birthday.

Mrs. Pelt was born July 21, 1920 in Griffin, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her parents, Enoch L. and Golder Mae Crumbley Williams; her husband Retired Major Augustus Hayden “Gus” Pelt; siblings, Forrest Williams, William T. “Bill” Williams, Florence Trujillo, Catherine Steuby, Lamar Williams, Howell “Ed” Williams.

Mrs. Pelt and her husband during his military career lived and traveled all over the world. She formerly worked at Smith-Roberts Department Store, was a lifelong member of Searcy Memorial United Methodist Church where when she returned to Griffin in the early 60’s has been the church organist for over 50 years.

Survivors include her sisters-in-law, Rachel Williams, Juanita Williams, Juanita Pelt; uncle Ellis “Bummer” Williams; many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Mrs. Rose Williams Pelt will be Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm at Searcy Memorial United Methodist Church. Following the Visitation a funeral service will be in the sanctuary. Reverend Billy Beard and Reverend Beverly Wilson will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
