Mrs. Ruth Hunter Yates, age 91, of Griffin, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018 at Harbor View Nursing Home.

Mrs. Yates was born in Griffin, Georgia, October 20, 1926. She is preceded in death, her husband, Jean Yates; daughter's, Rebecca Y. Riley and Kathy Yates; grandson, Matt Riley. She was a member of Pomona United Methodist Church, where she was very active until declining health, a former volunteer with the Griffin Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Melissa Carey and husband, Fletcher; Great grandchildren, Yates, Wyatt, and Lydia; son-in-law, Wallace Riley and wife, Chrissie.

A visitation for Ruth Hunter Yates will be on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be in the chapel. Reverend Gene Walton will officiate. Interment will follow in the Griffin Family Cemetery.
