Mr. Stjepan Kukucka age 85, of Griffin, Georgia passed away peacefully Friday, April 6, 2018. Mr. Kukucka was born in Josipovac, Croatia on July 19, 1932 to Stevo Kukucka and Ana Kanisek Kukucka. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. Often described as “a master story teller” he used his quick wit, business savvy, and extraordinary memory to support and bring joy to family, friends, and his colleagues. During his time in Croatia, Mr. Kukucka served as Mayor and Treasurer of his hometown, Josipovac, where he was instrumental in paving the town’s roads, establishing the city’s parks and recreation, building the town hall and fire station, and installing city water and laying in electricity to all of the town’s homes. In 1984, Mr. Kukucka emigrated from Croatia, settling in Griffin to begin a new life with his family. Speaking no english, he quickly learned his new native tongue, became a US citizen, and worked at Dundee Mills to support the family. Later he would go on to form his own company, Stephen’s Construction Company, which supported the local mills in maintenance and construction needs with his sons. His love for his family and friends, strong work ethic, passion to build and create to improve lives, and lifelong pursuit for continuing education are amongst his greatest accomplishments. Mr. Kukucka is survived by his children: Paula and John Delash, Jozo and Marija Kukucka, Miro and Eungi Kukucka, Slavko Kukucka, Bosko and Claudia Kukucka; 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews both locally and abroad. Visitation for Mr. Kukucka will be on Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Mass services will be conducted on Monday, April 9, 2017 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 1323 MacArthur Drive Griffin, Georgia.
