Mrs. Thelma Shepherd Moore Richie passed away Monday, October 30, 2017 at Brightmoor Nursing Center.  She was born in Rome, Georgia on December 27, 1928 to the late Dallas Columbus Shepherd and Ester Owen Shepherd.  She received her LPN from Griffin Technical School in 1962, and graduated from the first Registered Nursing class at Gordon College in 1975.  Soon after, she became a Public Health Nurse at Spalding County Health Department until her retirement.
“Miss Thelma” was involved in many organizations in Griffin, and in Dunnellon, FL.  She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Griffin, where she previously served as deacon, Sunday School teacher, sanctuary choir, WMU, and UnderShepherd Program.  She was also former local and state president of the Business & Professional Women’s Club, and involved in VFW and VFW Women’s Auxiliary.  After moving to Dunnellon, FL, she became a member of the Dunnellon Music Club and Rainbow Lakes Estates Garden Club.
Mrs. Richie was predeceased by her parents, husband Carl (Bo) Moore, son Carlton Scott Moore, and husband Calvin Richie.  Mrs. Richie is survived by her daughter Carla Moore Evans; grandsons Tim Evans (and Wayne English) and Chad Evans; great-grandchildren Kayle Evans Pardue (and Derek Pardue), and Ashton Evans; great-great-grandson Bowen Pardue; stepson, Dallas Helms; sister Geneva Shepherd Seltzer from Hershey, PA.
The Memorial Service for Mrs. Richie will be Monday, November 6th, at 2:00pm in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Griffin.  Visitation will be in the Cheatham Room of First Baptist Church from 12:00 until the time of the service.
