Timothy Andrew Smith

Timothy Andrew Smith, age 65, went to be with our Lord on December 20, 2020, with his brother, Randy, by his side. Tim was born on December 31, 1954, at Fort Belvoir, VA and was the second oldest of four children born to the late Walter Freeman Smith, US Army (Ret) and Peggy Quarles Smith.
Tim grew up in a military family. His father was stationed in France, Ethiopia, and Alaska, but his family finally settled in Rex, Georgia during his high school years. Tim was very competitive and loved to play sports. He played on the Morrow High School basketball team.
After graduating from Morrow High School in 1973, Tim followed in his grandfather’s and father’s footsteps and joined the Army. He completed several assignments overseas in Germany. After returning home to the States, Tim received an honorable discharge from the Army. He then started his career in the freight business in the Atlanta area. Tim worked for several companies including Consolidated Freightways, Yellow Freight Systems, and Estes Express Lines.
Tim was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing golf regularly with his friends as well as his annual Father’s Day outing with his father and brothers. He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, attending Falcon games as a season ticket holder, cheering for the Georgia Bulldogs, and riding his Harley Davidson. He loved playing music trivia weekly with his close friends. Tim was fiercely patriotic and a proud member of the American Legion Post in Griffin, GA. He was devoted to his family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Tim was preceded in death by his sister Judy Ann Smith and former wife, Betty Jean Smith. He is survived by his older brother Walter F. Smith Jr. (Sherry) of Forest Park, GA; his younger brother Randy B. Smith (Kim) of Lawrenceville, GA; Uncle Herbert A. Smith (Betty) of Greensboro, NC; step-daughter Andrea Gable of Jenkinsburg, GA; along with numerous nephews, nieces, and step-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home in Griffin, GA at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held prior to service starting at 10:00 A.M.
Interment with military honors will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA May 3, 2021, for family. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of your choice.
