Todd was such a great guy in high school. We went to church and school together. He was so popular (of course Steve, and Joe playing for OU). But he did not let that stop him from being humble and friendly. His smile was contagious. I noticed he was at Haskell and as I was driving to KC for work at the time I reached out to arrange a coffee meetup. We said OK we'll do it. But alas my work changed and I didn't make it back by there for the coffee. I am deeply saddened by your loss. I do appreciate that there was an Oklahoma memorial service and was able to attend. I was moved by the insightful testimony and encouraging words Drew left us with. What a beautiful family and incredible legacy! Todd's family and children can really give us hope for the future.

I was saddened to hear of my fraternity brother Todd Davis passing today. My heart is sad and condolences to his family.

Todd transferred to the University of Oklahoma from Tulsa University in the Fall of 1983. He affiliated his Kappa Sigma membership from TU in the Gamma Kappa chapter at OU where he immediately found welcome arms in our fraternity and on the athletic intramural fields.

Our chapter had gone through some lean years but thanks to a small but resilient active membership, revived membership recruitment, and strong alumni support we initiated the largest pledge class ever in our chapter in the 1982-83 academic year with 32 pledges. We also advanced to the playoffs in every major intramural sport and were Top 10 academically.

We were strong athletically and academically but Todd made is better upon his arrival. He was humble and thoughtful off the field but athletically gifted on the field. He assimilated onto our "A" Team Football squad and as our Quarterback, led us to the Intramural Semifinals in the ultra-competitive fraternity league.

Todd also teamed-up with brother Chris James to win the Intramural Fraternity League Doubles Competition in Horseshoes!

We came from all walks of life from points near and far to arrive at 1100 College Avenue in Norman but were drawn together by the Star and Crescent of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, the largest college social fraternity in the world. We foster four values: fellowship, leadership, scholarship and service.

I am honored to have known Todd Davis and saddened by his loss but remember the good times we shared as fraternity brothers at The University of Oklahoma and proud of his life and career. God Bless his soul and condolences to his family.

From 2015: OU Sports: Todd Davis talks about missing his older brother, former Sooners quarterback Steve Davis
• BY ERIC BAILEY World Sports Writer

Todd Davis missed his older brother Steve Davis last weekend.
Steve Davis, the former Oklahoma quarterback who died in a plane crash on March 17, 2013, would have been in Lawrence, Kan., to take a tour of Todd Davis’ new athletics director office at Haskell Indian Nations University, an NAIA school. The pair would have had a Friday night dinner and would have watched some of Oklahoma’s 62-7 win over Kansas on Halloween.
Todd Davis spoke with the Tulsa World about his brother on the eve of Oklahoma’s victory at Kansas. He also talked about Haskell’s basketball game at Tulsa on Saturday afternoon.
It’s been nearly two years since your brother passed away. With you now living in Lawrence, what would the Oklahoma-Kansas weekend been like if Steve was still with us?
Steve was always a big supporter after he played. There were many times when he would do the recruiting Saturdays. He would go to Norman and speak to recruits. I think he always had a love for the university and that grew over time. He would always ask me about the position that I was in in athletics. With his background, I felt like I could probably gain more knowledge from him because of what he’d done in the past.
I miss those phone calls. I even have his number still in my phone. I just leave it there as a reminder that life is so fragile. There’s no doubt he would have been in Lawrence and he would have been here the day before. He would already be here and been a part of the weekend. With it being KU homecoming and festivities, we would have taken some of those in. That is just the pageantry of college football and college athletics in general. That’s something that I will always remember with him.
When did you realize the impact that Steve had at OU?
I was in the eighth grade when he started at the University of Oklahoma. Being from a small town and being from Sallisaw, I didn’t think anything of it. I just thought everybody went to the OU game on Saturday. On Sunday, I’d pick up the Tulsa World and he would be on the front page. It was really kind of strange. When I graduated – I earned both of my degrees from the University of Oklahoma – I was fortunate to start working there. I tell a lot of people that I was so fortunate because I started at a place so many people want to retire at. I worked in OU athletics for six years and in those six years, I realized how important the University of Oklahoma athletics were to the state and the alumni who graduated from OU.
But when I got that first position, I realized how much of an impact (Steve) had with people throughout the state. When he passed away, we got letters from people across the country. Obviously people remember what he was able to do. During times like this, it does make you think back. At times like this, I’d love for him to be a part of it. But I still keep his memory alive.
Haskell gets to play at Tulsa in basketball on Saturday. How big is that for your school and your student-athletes at Haskell?
When you look at a schedule, there’s always somebody on that schedule that you are always looking forward to playing. An opportunity to play a school like the University of Tulsa and the tradition that they have in men’s basketball, what an opportunity. They realize too that it’s going to be a huge challenge, it’s going to be at Tulsa. As small a school as we are, we have a fan base that is really incredible. Most of our students come from the state of Oklahoma and Kansas. But with the nucleus around, I’m hoping there’s going to be a good crowd to support us. You never can tell what will happen, but I know they will give it their best and I’m proud of the direction that we’re taking with basketball. We’ve had some setbacks. But we’ll get there.
Not too many people are familiar with Haskell. What have you learned about the school that you may not have known when you took the job three months ago?
It’s really been amazing to me to see the generations of people who have been through here. Someone will tell me my great grandfather went to school here. Or my grandfather, my mom, my dad, my sisters or my brothers … my whole family graduated from Haskell. It’s amazing to see that. There’s such a passion. We’re not extremely big, but for the students who have come through these doors, there’s something about setting foot on this campus which sets them afire.
