Thomas Cleveland “Tommy” Freeman age 71, of Griffin, GA passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021.
Tommy was born in Hogansville, Georgia on March 8, 1950. His parents, Thomas Junior Freeman and Hazel Ruth Turner Freeman, two brothers all preceded him in death. He was a graduate of both Mercer University and Columbus State University.
Tommy started his career in law enforcement with the Newnan Police Department, then as a Georgia State Trooper. He came to the Griffin Police Department in 1980 and obtained the rank of Major throughout his 28 years of service and retired in 2008. After his retirement from the Griffin Police Department he served for more than 6 years as the Public Safety Director in Lafayette, Georgia.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lynn S. Freeman; children, Casey Freeman, Dusty Freeman, Denise Freeman and Kristi East; grandchildren, Giselle, Sebastian, Trent, Kanon, Damion and Avery; sisters, Nancy Stekelenburg and Brenda Freeman as well as several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service in the chapel. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you please consider making a contribution in memory of Tommy to Unity.org, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
