Mrs. Virginia Bass Buffington, age 86 of Griffin, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Brightmoor Nursing Center.

Mrs. Buffington was born in Griffin, Georgia on May 29, 1931. She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Joe Bass and Mildred Fountain Bass; husband, Thomas L. Buffington; sister, Helen Harwell; brother, Millard Bass. She is a member of Carver Road Baptist Church, and was retired from Griffin Spalding County School System. When she and Mr. Buffington lived at Lake Sinclair, she became active in the community as well as becoming a volunteer Fire Fighter with the Putnam County Fire Department.

She is survived by; her daughter Terry Kennedy and son in law Richard Kennedy; grandson, Richard Shane Kennedy and wife, Angela; granddaughter, Kellie Calhoun; great-grandchildren, Lindsey Kennedy, Leslie Kennedy, Lauren Kennedy, Jacob Mann, Chandler Mann, Ron Calhoun, Will Calhoun; great-great grandson, Aiden Chadwick; sister, Nadine Buffington; brother, Roger Bass and wife Joanne; granddaughter in law, Ann and husband Corey Dinkins; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Virginia Buffington will be on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Reverend Tom Summers will officiate. Interment will follow in Griffin Memorial Gardens.
