Walter "Leo" Chambers

Walter “Leo” Chambers, age 73 of Griffin passed away Friday August 5, 2022 at his residence.

Leo was born in Brooks, Georgia on February 3, 1949 to the late Andrew and Lula Akins Chambers. His sister, Annette Mitchell and brothers, Harry Chambers, Norman Chambers and Cecil Chambers, preceded him in death. 

Leo was a loving husband, father, grandfather (he adored his grandchildren) and friend whose presence all that knew him will dearly miss. He was a master craftsman employed by McLeroy Construction and enjoyed building things with his own hands when he wasn’t working on cars.

He is survived by his loving wife of  50 years, Mary Evans Chambers; sons, Thomas Chambers, Scott Goodman, Howard Goodman (Vanessa), Logan Chambers; daughter, Jessica Chambers; brother, Billy Ray Chambers; sister, Bobbie Jean Chambers; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home.  A funeral service, officiated by Reverend Cameron Shiflet, will be Monday, August 8, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury; Interment will be in Griffin Memorial Gardens.
