Walter Amos Thacker, Jr

Mr. Walter Amos Thacker, Jr., age 92, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020 at Eternal Hope Hospice.

Mr. Thacker was born in Shannon, Floyd County, Georgia on September 30, 1927. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Amos Thacker and Julia Sweat Thacker; his wife, Mary Jeanette Jenkins Thacker. Mr. Thacker was former owner of Thacker’s Home Furnishings. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and the United States Army. Mr. Thacker was a member of the First Christian Church of Griffin for more than fifty years.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Cindy Thacker; daughter and son-in-law, Sheri Thacker Harrison and Steve Harrison; grandchildren, Shane and Nancy Bickers, Philip and Meridith Beckham, Christie Jarret, Lindsey and Alex Goran; great grandchildren, Edgar Ramirez, Gavin Bickers, Jaden Bickers, Parker Beckham, Mia Beckham, Elizabeth Jarret, Avery Goran; brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Ruth Thacker, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at 2:00 pm in Oak Hill Cemetery. Pastor Dan Todd will officiate. Due to the Covid19 Virus and current restrictions in place by the State of Georgia and Spalding County, For those attending the graveside service there will be a loud speaker for you to listen.
