Wendell Timothy Bateman, age 77 of Griffin, passed away on September 28, 2018.
Wendell was born in Gresston, Georgia on November 28, 1940. He is preceded in death by his parents, Forest Bateman and Iona Pace Bateman; wife, Zelma Jenkins Bateman; brothers, Travis Bateman and Donnie Bateman. Wendell was a loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by son, Tim Bateman (Misty); step-children, Lou Sims, Arthur Sims (Linda); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Perry Bateman (Sara), Elene Johnson (Jimmy), Brenda Creamer (Jerry), Carolyn Kory (Richard), Carol Sorrow, Doris Scott, Linda Walston, Melba Roland. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation for Wendell T. Bateman will be Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 2:00pm until 4:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral Service will be Monday, October 1, 2018 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Reverend Arthur Jett will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital fund at StJude.org? in honor of Wendell Bateman.
