Willie Harold Weems, Sr.

Willie Harold Weems, Sr., age 74 of Griffin, passed from this earthly life on September 29, 2019 at WellStar Spalding Hospital. Harold, the son of the late Wille D. and Louise Fuller Weems was raised in Griffin and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1963. He served in the Air Force from 1963-1967. Harold married Linda Allen in 1977. They enjoyed their lives together, and as parents to their two daughters until Linda’s death in 2007.

He is survived by five children, Fredrick Clemmons (Dorothy) of Athens GA, Willie H. Weems Jr., Omeka Morris, Cianakah Green (Wayne), and Courtney Weems all of Griffin, GA. He also leaves to mourn two sisters Eula Louise (James) Willis of Atlanta and Sheryl Willis; brother Alfred Dennis Weems, Sr. of Griffin GA, as well as five precious grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many other loving relatives and friends.

A celebration of Harold’s life will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 10:00 am at Griffin First Assembly, 2000 W McIntosh Rd, Griffin, GA . The family will also host visitors at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home, between the hours of 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm on Friday evening, October 4th.

Harold retired after working 30 years for General Motors in Atlanta GA, followed by many additional years of service to include work for the Lamar and Griffin-Spalding County School Systems and for charitable organizations including Meals on Wheels. He will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and for his willingness to share his talents to help anyone in need. We will miss his infectious smile and practice of assigning special nick-names that always reflected his joy for life and his love for family and friends.
