William Frederick “Bill” Jenkins, age 75 of Griffin, Georgia passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Brightmoor Hospice.

He is preceded in death by his parents Elerson Edward Jenkins, Sr. and Nora Natalene Grantham Jenkins; sisters, Jeri Dotylene Jenkins, Janet “Jeanette” Jenkins Goolsby; brother, Raymond Jefferson “Jeff” Jenkins.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ingram Jenkins; daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Jenkins Buffington; daughter, Brittany Jenkins Turner and husband Curtis; grandchildren, Matthew Dylan Turner and wife Haley, Alexis Riley Turner and Austin Greene, Timothy Joseph Buffington, Jr., Joshua Ryan Buffington; great grandchildren, Dakota Bentley, Noah Bennett, Phoenix Aurora; brother, Elerson E. “Buddy” Jenkins, Jr. and wife, Lynn; several nieces and nephews.

Bill graduated with the Griffin High School Class of 1963 and the South Georgia Technical School in 1965. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 5448 and Griffin Masonic Lodge No. 413. He served in the United States Army and was badly wounded in 1966 in Viet Nam. Bill served his country with honor and was Medically retired in 1969 having received the Purple Heart, Viet Nam Service Medal, Republic Viet Nam Campaign Medal w/ Device 1960; National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooters (Rifle M-14) during his career in the military. Bill was a former Deputy for the Spalding County Sheriff’s Department.

A visitation for Bill Jenkins will be on Thursday December 14, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A family memorial service will follow at a later date. The family requests that you omit flowers and make a donation to the Disabled American Veterans or your favorite charity.
