John Yates was a very unique public official who returned phone calls and assisted strangers he did not know from all over Georgia. Unlike so many politicos today and in the past he will be sorely missed. We celebrate his life and are certain he is serving Jesus Christ in the Heavenly realm right now. God bless his soul and my sincere regards to his dear family members. You have much to be thankful for in sharing of his long life with yours. My Best Regards to you all.... W.J. Fortney

My sincere condolences to the family of John Yates.....a courageous man of America’s greatest generation. I admired John formany reasons, especially for serving his country with honor in the U S Army and later serving Georgians for many years as a member of the State House of Representatives. Your friendship was dear to me!
Rest in peace my friend; your life made a difference for all who had the pleasure of knowing you, especially Georgia’s veterans,
Sincerely
Bill Jackson

I am very saddened by his passing. We lost a great person, patriot, public servant and friend! He was such a devoted and loyal husband to his wife of many years, Annie. I served with John for 10 years in the legislature. He was a friend, confidant and advisor. He will be sorely missed.
